KOR NATURAL, Natural Dyes of Timor-Leste

To preserve the tradition of natural dyeing in Timor-Leste, and provide new economic opportunities for weaver groups, we started our natural dye program; KOR NATURAL

In 2023 we focussed on learning and experimenting, which we will continue in 2024, together with the start of a color-tree garden, building of our expertise center in Hera, providing trainings and bring new products on the market, as well as provide more income generation for our project's beneficiaries.

In 2022, with the support from Marketing Development Fund (MDF), we have done a feasibility study (click here for the full report) and concluded that there is a gap of knowledge and need to preserve the natural dye tradition in Timor-Leste.

The acknowledgement of Tais as national heritage by UNESCO confirms the importance of this local craft.

Please keep following our process of experiments on Facebook

A natural dye training center

We have managed to purchase land in Hera (suburb of Dili), to establish a physical training center for Timor-Leste's natural dyes with the aim to preserve the knowledge and skills of the traditional Timor-Leste's natural dyes
